Joseph A. Kohm Jr.
Joseph A. Kohm, Jr. has been a Certified Major League Player Agent since 2002. In 2006, Joe and Dave merged to form Diakon Baseball Group based on their shared personal and professional philosophy of a service centered baseball agency. Joe has represented players who have appeared on the game’s brightest stage – the All-Star Game, the World Series, and the Futures Game.
Joe is the author of Baseball’s Antitrust Exemption: It’s Going, Going…Gone!..., published by the Nova University Law Review, and co-author of The Family Advisor: The New Trend for Athletes with Family Values, published by the University of Miami Sports and Entertainment Law Review. Prior to receiving his law degree from Regent University School of Law, he earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University where he was a member of the basketball team that participated in the 1987 Final Four. For six years, Joe was an Adjunct Professor of Law at Regent University, where he taught Sports Law and Drafting Contracts, training future lawyers in areas such as antitrust law, Title IX compliance, and collective bargaining agreements. In 2011, he was named Regent University’s Professor of the Year. He is also a contributor to The Sports Law Blog.
Joe has been married for 26 years to his beautiful wife Lynne. They have two children, Joe, who is a senior at Virginia Military Institute, and Kathleen, who is a sophomore at the University of Chicago. The most important part of Joe’s life is his faith. He strives to be accountable to his clients by first being accountable to God.
David N. Pasti
David N. Pasti has practiced law for 23 years, focusing on Criminal and Juvenile Defense, Personal Injury and Civil Litigation. He is currently a partner in the Law firm of Shure, Perez, O’Connor and Pasti in Rockville, MD. Dave has also distinguished himself as a skilled negotiator. As a result, in 1998, Dave combined his legal skills and his passion for sports to include agent representation of baseball players as part of his practice. Over the past 15 years, Dave has established a reputation as a quality baseball agent who places a high value on integrity and trust. His professional approach also caught the attention of the local papers and television news. In May 2002, he appeared on the cover of the Washington Post Magazine in a story entitled, “The Agent - What happens when you risk everything to follow your dream?”
Dave has served as an advisor and agent to college and high school players in the annual baseball draft for the last 15 years. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and is on the leadership board of the Metro Maryland Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Maryland and in 1988 received his J.D. from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California.
Dave is committed to his faith, family, and his clients. He has been happily married to his wife Marie, and they are proud parents of 3 boys, Jonathan, Michael, and Sammy.
